The Legend of Mithal, the cursed mirror
There is tale of a vanity mirror once owned by the queen of the first elves that had been passed down the lineage since the second era . During the 13th generation of elves, the Queen passed the Mirror to her niece instead of her daughter. Jealous of the nieces beauty, the daughter cursed the mirror so the next person to gaze into it will be trapped within. On the birthday of the Queens daughter she was presented with a large gift wrapped in fine silks. When the gift was unwrapped, the cursed mirror was reviled. Her cousin unknowingly turned the curse back on its caster. Before the entire court, the body of the princess was sucked inside the mirror. The curse could not be broken, and neither could the mirror, so it sat. Until present day that mirror still stands in the courtroom of a lost elven city, now haunted by the banshee that had become the princess. The land around the city was leached of life leaving a black and twisted version of its glory. Sometimes in the night at the edge of the forest, you can hear the blood curdling wail of the banshee princess
