Past member of The Brotherhood of Bastard
Graygore Stormcrow
Graygore Stormcrow was one of the founding members of the brotherhood, but spent so little time in it, that until his re-emergence and death he was all but forgotten. A gruff warrior who was as humble as a dragon sitting on a mountain of gold, Graygore’s lack of accomplishments and good sense separated him from the brotherhood on his very first excursion with them. Leaping into a portal after Walkus he was considered dead, until he showed up trying to kill the brotherhood.
Once and ally, turned enemy, Graygore is a lesson in humility and ultimately treachery against the brotherhood will lead you to an early grave. Current Status: Dead and dismembered. “Some things are better left unsaid. But in this case he is where he belongs.” - Solarion |
Teaghan Stormcrow
Teaghan Stormcrow is the younger sibling of Graygore Stormcrow, and one of the founding members of the brotherhood. He travelled with the brotherhood for some time until he wandered off in search of his missing brother, taking with him a magical bow that the brotherhood knows almost nothing about. Teagan’s demeanor was always cool, and his accuracy with his bow might one day become the stuff of legends if he ever manages to get out of Graygore’s shadow. His brother seems to occupy his thoughts at all times, and the young ranger never truly seemed at home adventuring as he was in the woods. Steadfast in the line of battle, but always behind or above raining down a volley of arrows on his enemies, Teaghan was the first of a long line of rangers and archers to join the brotherhood’s ranks. His tracking skills set him apart from many others the brotherhood has crossed paths with.
Current status: Unknown. “May his travels take him far from his brother, for his shadow is too deep to flourish in.” - Solarion |
Ariel
Ariel was a founding member of the brotherhood, a noble ranger with the virtues of a paladin. Ariel’s current status is unknown as he has been missing for some time.
Although he may one day be a ranger of great skill, I think that Ariel missed his calling and should have been a knight or paladin. He had virtues and a code of conduct that belonged more in a court than in the wilds. One would be mistaken to think that the man couldn’t fight. He was deadly accurate with his bow and was known making men into pincushions while with the brotherhood. Ultimately he left in the middle of the night, without saying a word to any of his companions. He has no claim to fame, as his inclusion into the ranks of the brotherhood are cursory at best. “For a man with so many virtues, he lacked the common courtesy to say goodbye.” -Solarion |
ArmadeousArmadeous was a founding member of the brotherhood and animal companion of Solarion Greyfeather. He died protecting Solarion from members of the Blue Eagle in Ti’Talab.
Many would think that the massive black mastiff was nothing more than a dog, but they couldn’t be more wrong. Armadeous was a cautious warrior who stayed by Solarion’s side through thick and thin. Never giving a second thought to his own safety in order to protect his friends. I was not his master, as he was not my pet... we were brothers. Solarion was often seen speaking canine with Armadoeus around the campfire and in the midst of battle. His coat was a luscious and vibrant black, criss-crossed with the many scars that marked the entire length of his body. Having survived so many battles Solarion had intended only to bring Armadeous on one last adventure before retiring him to their new mansion in Vargas, but ultimately Armadeous would never make the return trek to see the mansion completed in its current state. “I may have paid for him, but once we met I set him free. We were bonded by magic blessed by Adoy, but a form of brotherhood kept us together. He alone knew my fears as I knew his. He paid the highest price anyone can pay, and he did it without a thought for himself. How I wish that it hadn’t been paid for my pride…” -Solarion |
Mathropoxx The Barbarian
Mathropoxx the barbarian is a true warrior poet, only his poetry was sheer violence and gore. He wore his emotions clearly for all to see, as life is what you make it, and his would be filled with friends, violence, victory, ale, glory and women… oh so many women.
He stood fast at the battle of Barnack against a horde of orcs and was hailed as a champion by the hardy townsfolk, and was as quick with wit as he was with his axe. He endeared himself to the brotherhood by loudly challenging anyone and anything to a “Test of Strength!” which his massive frame would more often than not win. His final claim to fame with the brotherhood was at Fort Tourmi as he launched orc after orc off of the walls taking staggering wounds in the process. His fury and prowess is still spoken of in awe, as he singlehandedly held sections of the wall while defenders fell around him, but he would not surrender the wall. Bathed in orc blood he jumped over the wall to give chase to the retreating horde and only returned when his battle thirst had been sated. His wounds would have killed any lesser man, and many of the great ones, but Mathropoxx is silently said to have defeated death itself that day and it fled. The guards who survived are not silent about it. Having spent long hard months with the brotherhood, he was often seen looking up at the starts at night longingly wishing to return to the north to revel in his new found glory and prowess as a young warrior. Finally one night he left for the north, without word to anyone, but those who knew him knew his true path was always one that would eventually diverge, as is the wandering barbarian’s way. “I miss my friend… some friendships are greater than the sum of their parts…” - Solarion |
Sir Corith AnymayusClearly the most famous past member of the Brotherhood of Bastard. Corith was slained in the Crypt of Shraevyn, north of Til'Talab.
He was an exiled Prince of the republic of Rodana At a young age, Corith joined his own army as a fresh new recruit so he could learn to be a soldier without royal treatment and privilege. No one knew that their prince was right among them training. Sir Corith was treated like some peasant who had joined the army to get his 3 meals and gold. Working hard, he became a Sergeant via a field commission on his own merit. During the battle of the Burning Bay, his actions singled handily changed the battle to the Rodainians favor, saving the lives of the entire battalion and capturing the enemy General alive as a Prisoner of war. Once recognized as a war hero to the people the king who was Corith's father personally invited this new up and coming sergeant to the capital for a coronation to be knighted. The King had no idea it was his missing long lost youngest son. During the ceremony he removed his helm and embraced his father and siblings. Thus the young, Corith became loved by his people after returning five years later. During this time, the young Prince joined the order of the Paladins of Helgar, The God of war. Later on The king was assassinated by a secret new order of deadly assassins. The people wanted the young Prince to sit on the throne for he was loved and admired by all, but his eldest brother wanted the Throne and felt it was threatened by the will of the people's love for Corith. Corith's oldest brother had grown jealous and had framed the assassination on the young prince and had him arrested. To avoid the young prince becoming a martyr of the people, he exiled the young Prince and The Bl;ack Snake to hunt down and kill the young prince out on the roads and not in the Kingdom of Rodana. The Black Snake were never successful in killing Corith, but the Prince fell anyway. Upon his death, Lorg Alarg claimed his body and thru a lengthy process, raised him as a Death Knight. To this day, Lord Corith whereabouts are unknown. |
Edison
Edison came from a long line of powerful wizards. His father was the Archmage of Kilhor, his siblings and cousins were all powerful practitioners of the arcane. The family was at the forefront in the war against Sirrey.
Though skilled in his art, Edison would say he abhorred violence but the truth was he was a coward when it came to any type of confrontation or real battle. Yes he could read tomes and destroy paper targets but in actual battle, his mind and hands would tremble and his heart was too much like his mothers, nothing like his fathers, the Archmage Winterheart. Edison had joined the Brotherhood out of necessity while he was exploring a crypt he thought to be uninhabited, unfortunately for him it was in fact inhabited by its score of walking dead. Yet fortune was with Edison for the Brotherhood had just lost one of there own, The Paladin of Helgar, Sir Corith. During his first battle Edison received a small superficial wound, that was enough, he dropped his gear and wand, halfheartedly apologized to this new friends and ran, never looking back. |
GrimleyGrimley Badaxe is a priest of Morgdane the all father, and a stout companion and friend of the brotherhood. Afflicted by a strange magic his time with the brotherhood was short, but was impactful.
Current status unknown. Sometimes the gods grant you gifts of companionship that you wouldn’t have expected, but ultimately needed. Grimley’s arrival and departure were both out of his control, but his contribution while with the brotherhood was enough to have bards compose ballads. He literally shimmered into existence right before the first orc invasion of the now fallen town of Barrnack, hailing from the Iron Kingdom he was cursed with an affliction that causes him to transform into small creatures of little consequence or disappear altogether. His arrival was in tune to orcish war drums and he fought valiantly alongside the townsfolk and brotherhood to push back the orcs. Upon arrival the cheeky dwarf actually told the defenders that it was their last chance to surrender! Grimley quickly bonded with barbarian Mathropoxx until eventually he disappeared never to reappear. He was known for his wheelbarrow toting around a keg of ale, or using it as a battle-barrow as he would call it. Whenever some of the brotherhood pass a wheelbarrow standing alone and ready, they say a quick prayer to Morgdane to send them back their friend. It has yet to be answered. “Some candles burn brighter than others. Grimely is such a character. His light is both comforting and dangerous at the same time. I wish him well, wherever his road takes him.” -Solarion |
Sir Jack HolmwoodSir Jack Holmwood is the 3rd son of Lord Arthur Godalming and Lady Lucy.
During his training as a knight with his other brothers, Jack demonstrated a rare talent in wielding two long swords at the same time. He became one of the best fighter in his family. Following a recent incident with the daughter of the keep’s smith, Sire Jack Holmwood was "deemed" ready by his father to perform his two year role as a Knight Errand in order to further the name of Holmwood and Godalming in the Realm. The goal of this quest would be simple. Jack would need to first, better understand the reality of the population. Second, to make a name for himself while upholding the Holmwood family values and definitively not disgrace himself. Sire Jack Holmwood took his few belongings and his trusted horse named “Dadsass” and his mule “Dick” and headed towards Vargas. |
AdonAdon was a ranger, one of the many that have graced the Brotherhood. He was a bounty hunter in search of something he never truly divulged. His inclusion into the Brotherhood was quick, as fresh bodies were needed for another dangerous task.
Unfortunately there is very little to tell of Adon. His stay was brief, consisting of but a few weeks, and his departure was an inexplicable walking off into the night without a word. He holds no claims to fame, and is only on the rolls because he was there at one point. He’s viewed as a wayward soul not worthy of the Brotherhood. Current Status: Unknown. “I wish there was something to tell… he shot a bow decently, but I’ve seen better.” - Solarion |
AzrealAzreal was and still is an elven bard of some repute. A man as fascinated in magic as he is in with keeping up appearances. Although not a founding member of the Brotherhood, his inclusion was from a very early date. He was seeking wine, women and song, although not in any particular order, and only wanted to compose the next great ballad.
Azreal’s talents are many, but he is deadly with his short bow, and although not a true magic wielder, he’s learned to wield more than a few deadly and startling spells. His arsenal of spells rivaled Solarion’s in their early days together. His claims to fame are many, as he was a hero of Vargas, aided in the coronation of the current King, battled the Lich Shrum, and was in the great battle of Til’Talab. His place in the lore of the Brotherhood is as secure as any, although his penchant for restlessness is almost legendary. Azreal removed himself from the Brotherhood after retuning back to Vargas, vowing to become a farmer and lead a more straight forward life. Current Status: Scraping cow dung off his boots with a smile. “We were never friends, but nor were we enemies. I sometimes miss his voice, but then I remember the words that would follow and think better of it.” - Solarion Famous word: "I'm becoming a farmer" |
EllieEllie, of the Cloud People, was a founding member of the brotherhood, an assassin with formidable skills and connections. Ellie’s current whereabouts are unknown.
An assassin by trade, and an alchemist at heart, Ellie plied her trade in wet work with a conscience that often defied the objective. Steadfast she would do thing in her own way without concern for consequences or payment, which is unlike the normal code of assassins. Avoiding combat and messy situations is her trademark, often nimbly dodging blades narrowly avoiding death, distracting her enemies while they were slowly whittled down by the brotherhood. Her poisons carefully administered were devastating, and her infiltration skills are second to none. Some are meant for fighting, some are meant to be meat. Ellie is neither. Ellie’s claims lay in the ground work in establishing networks in places the brotherhood has no sway. If information is power, Ellie is a gatherer of secrets, and dangerous like a black widow spider when guarding them. For such beauty, underneath there is a layer of rage, and her claim to fame is in dismembering rival guild’s assassins in unique and creative ways, all the while wearing their blood as a sign of victory. “… some souls were never given a chance at peace… I hope that she’s found it now…” - Solarion |
Sekhmet
Sekhmet is of the cat-people. If they have another name, we are currently unaware of it. Covered in fur and possessing an innate magical gift, she was gifted but lacking common sense. She joined the Brotherhood in the Tome of Shrum near the portals, and almost killed Azreal in the process. The Brotherhood accepted the wild cat-lady as a member. She only ever wanted to free her enslaved people, but the Brotherhood didn’t move quickly enough for her liking.
Sekhmet was a different kind of magic wielder, as her talents were arcane in nature, but not studied like a typical mage. This is most likely due to coming from Khum Burrim, but that is just a theory. Her gifts made her a potent sorcerous when she could be called upon to wield her powers, but often would get flustered and muck things up completely. Sekhmet’s claim to fame is her entrance. Jumping through a gateway and almost finishing her casting of flame arrow on a downed Azreal. Sekhmet left the party before they were tricked into Farun’s devious maze, as she only ever wanted to free her enslaved people, but the Brotherhood didn’t move quickly enough for her liking. Current Status: Unknown. “If I’m being honest, I wanted her to stay because I was studying her magical properties.” - Solarion |
ANO'DIL WOLFSHAYD
Often referred to as Beastmaster, Ano'dil has earned a reputation for fearlessly rushing into battle with his blades and bow and for his almost supernatural ability to communicate with the animals that willingly follow him. After returning from his first mission as a ranger only to find his village being attacked by vicious orcs, finding his family and neighbours murdered and the place in flames, he barely escaped with his life. He emerged from the wilderness several months later, followed by his loyal companion, the large wolf known as Onak, vowing to destroy the foul beasts that left him an orphan so that no one else need suffer as he has. Anodil was later imprisoned in a labyrinth, used as a pawn in the amusement of others and only managed to escape with the help of a strange Whirling named Thundar who was similarly incarcerated. The two of them (and Onak ) joined the brotherhood of bastards shortly after their escape and have remained with the party since. Ano'dil having gained the trust and respect of his fellow bastards is commonly considered the groups leader, a position he prefers to fill through example rather than with force.......not that he believes he could force the bastards to do anything they didn't want to.
Having many disagreement with the members of the Brotherhood of Bastard, Ano'Dil felt his own view on the world did not aligned with those of the Bastards. On the 35th of Gurlith, year 286, Ano'Dil left the party. |
HANZO UJIMASA
Samurai, peerless warriors, scholars , poets and artists. The true definition of such warriors is the meaning of the word. Samurai means to serve.
Hanzo was a direction less young man, lost among the citizens of Tuh, until Daimyo Sato found him. Many years of training has helped shape him into the definition of warrior of Honor, he has risen to rank of second (his masters left hand) and sent on an urgent quest. |
DRAKEN PENDULUM
Draken Pendulum was a human of rogue that could fade into the darkness better than any had seen, or not see before. It was as if he was born of shadow, or at least it seemed to cradle him. Very little is known about his origins, nor his intentions other than searching for treasure.
Draken joined the Brotherhood in the middle of the night. His inclusion was not without some hesitancy, but lacking available bodies to fill their ranks he joined as a full-fledged member. He was being hunted by assassins at the time, but he could not remember or wouldn’t explain the reason… Unfortunately his stay within the Brotherhood is both short and infinite. He died a total of four times in the span of a few weeks, and finally not even Solarion could beg for his life to be returned. A fire giant sword was his first death but ultimately he met his end while being pin-cushioned by poisoned crossbow bolts while trying to search and disarm traps. The ambush was as sudden as his death, and in the end he died trying to help. Draken will not be remembered as a heroic figure in the Brotherhood, but more of a tale of caution. The Brotherhood’s missions are dangerous, and if you aren’t more than just capable, your name will be etched in the rolls for evermore. “He wasn’t a coward, he was forever anxious after his first death. I pray for his soul, but I fear it is no longer free…” - Solarion |
DAMARUK STORMROARDamaruk the Minotaur is a no nonsense type of being. He is driven by his thirst for knowledge, a specific knowledge. He wants to regain his humanity, but the road to it is difficult and full of unknown.
The only life that Damaruk remember is one of being a Minotaur. Somewhere deep in him, he knows there was something before that, but he can't quite get it. One of his first memory is of his capture at the hands of these weird looking man, the blue monk he called them. They quickly overpowered him and knock him out. He woke up in a labyrinth, a slave to an evil, evil man. From then on, it was all he knew, he was to kill anyone that enter his area. And this he did well, very well. After being in the labyrinth for a very long time, he finally escape. A short time after, he join the Brotherhood of bastard. After the incident in Markhum, Damaruk started a journal. Here is the first entry: *************************************************************************************** Finally out of this maze! I kind liked experience. Damaruk not understanding why others so annoyed, I found good gears and shinny coins more than ever did before while scavenging along road and stealing from travelers to eat. Only riddles annoyed Damaruk greatly. But no Farun! I will pursue this cockroach to end of land no matter what Incest siblings write on letter. Good thing Thundar more skilled than annoying Solarion when come to divination. We will trace those deviant people and crush them and also get myself drinking cup with Farun's head if we can trace him with my old necklace! We turns against enemy its weapon by using it to find Farun! Damaruk glad to go to city and get fresh air to rest, but he has to endure companion which run from smoke to next, never content to stay idle for moments. Why should Damaruk fight those orcs? Let Anod'il have fun, we have killed many more and worse, Bastards not needing Damaruk help. Let them run around, Damaruk will enjoy show of ugly orcs been squished, and maybe pierce some from afar with what is left of arrow in quiver. Solarion spell very strong, me glad he finally shared better magic to Damaruk than lame book he gave before. Glad we finally got rid of cursed sword from ranger, I thought we would have had to get rid of him because too unreliable for relying on. Damaruk he now cured, because would have been sad to have to kill animal whisperer friend. But would have like to shut mouth and punch him silly when he was yelling for sword like big baby! That little children with strange voice that people call gnome prevented my fist to knock ranger. Damaruk felt vulnerable and got scared of realizing he could be taken out so easily in combat, by such a little thing. Me hope Damaruk real scared tiny mage so she too afraid to do again. Damaruk needs to find how to protect against that spell in future. Also, need to learn this spell when better at magic. The Edge, Damaruk have good memories of breaking legs of fat Round Legion boss who exploits kids. Damaruk should have killed! But me enjoyed a lot throwing fat boss down fast wagon! Why do Bastards always need to stick noses everywhere like dogs ? Damaruk not care about explosion behind Edge. Me want to rest, not go in. They can explore if want Damaruk walking alone to city. Those guards picked wrong time to provoke Damaruk. Was good to vent fury on tall one. Wonder what Thundar thinking of raising dead and leaving them unattended everywhere? Basterds play a lot with dead things like hands and monsters, Damaruk wonder why they cannot let what is dead, unmoving? We get to clear things we agreed to do that is good! Damaruk wants to do important things like finding way to reach island of Lost City Druid and Oracle statue told to him for his origin. Damaruk wondering about what catman told and if it was true..?! There is one way to find and it is to go there. Maybe through Lost City ?! Glad Damaruk did not crush Solarion. He annoying but good ally, and now that magic tutor dead, Damaruk needs new guide if wants to get better at magic. He cannot do by himself. Must not let smug Solarion know about Damaruk weakness of needing him. Now we ride to sea and to kill slavers! Damaruk loves both! The sea soothes him. Me wonder if ship is seaworthy of just floater wreck?! Damaruk vaguely remembers hearing driver saying he from Octavian empire. Then RED. Damaruk dimly aware of claws activating goring throat of dangling man. Burning rage taking hold of Damaruk as he recalls years of slavery and been prisoner of Farun's original Run, forced to kill people, even when Damaruk did not want. I will crush Farun and drink to great success in his skull! AAAARRRRGGGGG! And that Octavian Empire with Fat Man which contributed to Damaruk's imprisonment and torture. I will destroy them. Then flashes as consciousness receded nearly completely to let a terrible beast take control of the Minotaur battle crazed mind. He vaguely recalls the two clerk slaughtered as they stumbled in building, then little boy chopped in two by his great axe. But only felt the blinding rage like molten lava as he search for more import prey but failed. He then collapsed from exhaustion of so much hatred. His mind aware of friend fighting outside probably because of him losing control, but his body to spent to allow him to do anything. Then as fighting died a little Thundar coming to get him and help Damaruk walk a bit to escape until muscles strength came back. Solarion is crazy mad also. Condescending mage can also be very dangerous when mad, and sometimes devious morale. At least Damaruk is not in control when goes crazy, him stay in control of mind when he decides to become dangerous. Much more evil than what Damaruk do. Damaruk happy that friends did not leave Minotaur behind. Me very sad cause let them down and caused great problem for Bastards. I need to kill something more to feel better. Maybe killing slavers will help fill dark hole in chest. At least until next kill... |
